Work in progress

Despite the slightly changed circumstances, the 18th BuSho Film Festival’s submission period was closed on 1 March. All together the entries are again close to a thousand, so the refreshed pre-jury is now back on track. Although, it was a relief for them that there is only one entry platform but considering the large number of entries it’s not going to be that easy.

The statistics, awaited with curiosity, showed that this year the Spanish had the highest number of entries with 105 films, almost twice as many as the second place, Hungarians with 55, followed by the Germans and the British with 50-50 short films and the French slightly behind with 40. The Visegrad countries continue to send an average of 20 entries, as do Belgium, America and Canada, among others.

Of course, we do not list everyone but, as usual, a few rarities, still many entries from Not Specified State, but the really interesting entries are the works from Cambodia, Faroe, Kazakhstan or Armenia.

There are also some oddities in the breakdown by category, with a lot of Short, Student, Feature and Documentary entries, but broadly speaking, we can see that there were nearly 100 animated films and around 50 experimental films, in addition to most fiction.

So the focus is on the selectors, we wish them much joy with their work, and the creators good luck.

Results to be announced around the 1 May, Labour Day.
